1. Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a semiconductor device and, more particularly, to a thin film transistor (hereinafter referred to as TFT) substrate having a gate insulating film and interconnects made of an amorphous semiconductor film, an active matrix circuit and an electro-optical device (such as a light-emitting diode and light-emitting device) having the TFT substrate.
2. Description of the Related Art
Recently, attention has been paid to a technology for forming TFTs on a substrate. The characteristic features of TFTs are that (1) a TFT can be formed on a transparent substrate and (2) TFTs having various functions can be formed on one substrate.
TFTs that have been used for almost all applications are crystalline silicon TFTs, and it was impossible to form TFTs using amorphous silicon having a higher light-transmittance and higher field-effect mobility than that of crystalline silicon TFTs. However, it was recently found that, by depositing amorphous silicon into a film and heating it, a preferable TFT characteristics can be obtained.
In addition, an application of the technology for producing a liquid crystal display device has been developed, by combining the TFTs having such excellent characteristics with a liquid crystal electro-optical device.
Light-emitting diodes (LED) were one of such applications. For example, there was a display unit using an LED, in which an array of red, green and blue LEDs were formed on a substrate and in which a phosphor was formed in a lattice of the pattern made of the LEDs. This technique was used for the purpose of displaying a color image by utilizing the LED’s characteristics, and it was expected to be applied to applications of color image display boards

There are two types of operations: 1) “Fix” the “halo” on a image to restore/add light/dark values. 2) “Fix” the image to restore the lost contrast. This process may produce image with new tonal values, which may be desired.
