When you first open an image, Photoshop asks where you want to store it. JavaScript – incrementing a JS variable in a particular case
I have two similar JS variables, each starting at 0. I want to increment the second variable by 1 in a particular case (a condition fulfilled). I don’t want to do a reassignment in that case. In Java, I would declare an int variable, increment it in the beginning (at the start of the method for instance), and use the initial value in the condition.
In JS I can only use a conditional statement. I tried this:
a = a || 0;
a++;
if (a > 0) {
// a doesn’t get incremented
}
but I can’t get the above behavior. Can someone help me?

This is correct:
a = a || 0;
This doesn’t change a, it initializes a (because a isn’t declared) with a value of 0. It just says, “If a is not defined, initialize a to 0”.
The assignment to a after is redundant, as it is an assignment to a (which hasn’t been previously assigned) and thus
