If you use multiple displays with different DPIs, you may have come across an issue: the pointer spear appears to differ greatly when moving from one monitor to another, which can get rather irritating.
DPI Gonzales is a clever open-source application that attempts to mitigate this problem by performing automatic adjustments to the pointer speed whenever you move the mouse from a high-DPI to a low-DPI display.
Here’s how the program works
Once you launch DPI Gonzales, it checks the Windows pointer speed setting and uses it as a baseline for its calculations. When moving the cursor to a different monitor, the pointer speed is adjusted automatically depending on its resolution, DPI and the Windows scaling setting.
It is preferable to keep the pointer speed in Windows at the default setting, which is right in the middle of the slider, and to disable the “Enhance Pointer Precision” option. It is important to note that, after the application is launched, any changes to the mouse speed setting will be reverted when moving to a different monitor.
Not as novice-friendly as we would have liked, but very useful indeed
There is no question that DPI Gonzales can be very helpful if your machine is equipped with high- and low-DPI monitors, but it would have been great if the effects of the customizable parameters were explained in the documentation.
Users also have to add the application to the startup list manually, but this shouldn’t be all that difficult. The developer has even provided some instructions to help you out.

In a nutshell, DPI Gonzales is worth a try if you are bothered by the noticeable pointer speed differences between high- and low-DPI monitors in Windows 10. It should help mitigate this issue, and it is very unobtrusive, but not particularly novice-friendly.

What is DPI Gonzales Free Download?
DPI Gonzales is a mouse tracking application which automatically adjusts the mouse speed when you move it from one monitor to another. It is available in the form of a simple.exe file. This is a very comprehensive review of DPI Gonzales. It shows a lot of the great features that are packed into this piece of software. I’m especially interested in “Tools DPI Gonzales does not offer:” There are a lot of features that are built into DPI Gonzales that are ignored by other software.

As I mentioned, it requires some manual configuration and the application can’t do everything. But it does cover a great deal of ground and so I hope it has demonstrated that DPI Gonzales is more than just a “competitor.”

Don’t ever try to run a full memory dump on a 32-bit Windows Vista PC without having a VirtualBox virtual machine running on top, because it will result in a catastrophic kernel crash.
It happened to our friend Jean-François Boivin, and he figured out that only having a 32-bit version of Windows Vista on his computer prevented VirtualBox to start up correctly. The system would completely lock-up and reboot itself as soon as it attempted to start the virtual machines.
Now, running 32-bit Windows on your 64-bit Windows 10 PC in a virtual machine is a perfectly normal thing to do. But if you have a 32-bit Vista PC on your desk, and you want to run some VirtualBox virtual machines on top, you’re going to have to accept that the thing is not going to work.
A kernel crash will happen, and you won’t be able to get it to start again. However, there is a solution to this issue that you should be aware of, and it involves restoring the data at another time.
How to start a memory dump in Windows Vista without requiring a virtual machine
For starters, we are going to perform a memory dump in Windows Vista using the traditional method of printing the error of the week to the console. This will print a lot of output on your screen, which may be somewhat annoying.
To avoid that, we are going to kill the process that is generating this output. For that, we are going to use the command tasklist. This will show us the processes currently running on the PC, along with the command line that was used to run them.
From that command line, we are going to run the shutdown command and specifically the parameter /r /z. This will cause the system to start the shutdown procedure, and it will attempt to shut down all users first. Once this is finished, the VM will be stopped in an orderly fashion, and only then will a memory dump be performed.
