It’s a simple way to write scripts as an extension of your favorite programming language.
TIScript is best-suited to languages such as C, Perl, PHP, ASP, Java, Python, MATLAB and FORTRAN.
With TIScript you can write your programs using the same tools you already use to create other programs, and run them in the same interpreter, too.
It’s not a typical JavaScript engine, with no ability to declare variables and functions, nor support objects, and so on.
On the contrary, it provides all the functionality you expect from a fully-compliant ECMAScript compiler, with the ability to add new keywords and syntax to your script.
TIScript is not a debugger, by design, but it does let you debug your script using standard tools (like a text editor).
Note: You can also debug your JavaScript code! The debugger is included. There is no specific debug for TIScript, but it does run the debugger of your choice. You can use the built-in debugger of TIScript, or the regular browsers debugger.
Efficient:
TIScript compiles your scripts to pure JavaScript on the fly. No intermediate bytecodes, or expanded syntax is created.
The only additional runtime overhead is a small amount of memory (about 100 KB on average, depending on what you code, which is well below the memory overhead of every other scripting language we know of!).
This means that you can process scripts hundreds of thousands of times faster than using a regular scripting language interpreter, as the engine will not have to load and parse your script.
Dynamic:
TIScript is dynamic, fully dynamic. This means that you don’t have to keep compressing your script during runtime, and it will use as much memory as you can afford to give it. You can keep your script always compacted and you won’t notice any difference in performance.
Simple and easy to use:
To be able to support all the features of TIScript, we kept the language as simple as possible, yet powerful. TIScript is easy to learn, you don’t have to know any special programming language.
Even if you have never used a scripting language before, you can be using TIScript in a few minutes.
