I am struggling to figure out what is happening with this line of bash code:

I am just trying to test if the directory called logs exists or if there is a file called logs. but it always passes the test, even when logs does not exist.
What would be the correct way to do this? I have also tried:
if [ -d /usr/share/logs/*.log ] || [ -f /usr/share/logs/*.log ] ; then

and
if [ -d /usr/share/logs/*.log ] || [ -f /usr/share/logs/*.log ]; then

I have tested this on CentOS 7, but would like a solution that could be applied to both Debian and CentOS.

means:
