The biggest problem with BRT is the fact that this game is very poorly translated, as most of the menu screen text simply doesn’t translate. This creates a situation where no one really knows what is actually going on in this game, as it’s almost entirely text-based and ultimately, you’re just playing this game by pressing buttons. That said, this game is incredibly boring at times, with some levels being a slog to progress through. The game is littered with various side-quests to do with cooking, fishing, and trading, but there is no way of knowing if you need to do them or not, and the game doesn’t make it easy to know. The shops in the town are essentially unnecessary, as you’re just buying XP boosts for your current character, so there’s really no point in your spending your money there (I mean, theres nothing to buy there anyway, so you’re just simply spending money on a good idea that never actually came to fruition). The combat is very basic, really just button-mashing, as you’re taking various enemies on one-on-one, and it’s very repetitive. The anime is very episodic, introducing new characters in a reasonable fashion, and revealing new information along the way as the story goes on. Not much is known at the beginning, so the show can do whatever it wants with revealing something new. However, when the anime is about to do something epic, such as the Tower of God betrayal or Kiriha’s eye, it suddenly seems to pause for an extended period of time, and even when it does continue, it doesn’t really advance the story.
