In the Lands Between a Land of Soul and Blood, assembled by the Dark Lord, a Demon Lord sealed the blood of mankind for ever. Throughout the Realms, creatures of the dark forces, demonic beings known as Balancers who guard the blood, spread their suffering, and the lands between have become a bloodbath. The blood of the Elden Lord flows into the hearts of humans, transforming them into Balancers themselves.
These humans, called “Tarnished” use the power of the Lord of Blood, the Elden Lord, to become one of the Balancers who guard the Blood and prepare themselves to fight against the Demon Lord and his Balancers.

The Tarnished are summoned to assemble in the city of Arad in northern Erellean, a country in the Lands Between. Based on the characters you create at the beginning, you will have the choice of three clans, including the Tarnished. These clans then create two teams to compete to seize power from the Legendary Elden Lord of Erel.
■ World Exploration
During the World Exploration process, you will be required to look for new lands, regions, monsters, and items. Explore new environments, and fight to survive as you meet new Balancers, the Demon Lord, and other characters you encounter on the battlefield.
Storyline
The story of the Tarnished takes place in the Lands Between, a world where the blood of the Elden Lord flows through humans into the souls of others, turning their bodies into the physical vessels of the Balancers, creatures of the dark forces. The Tarnished are summoned to assemble in the city of Arad in northern Erellean, a country in the Lands Between. Now you are a Tarnished who must fight alongside other Tarnished to seize power from the Legendary Elden Lord. The story unfolds through the different characters you meet, and the scenes you witness, as you explore the Lands Between.
