The city rolled out the program on Wednesday during a news conference at a local police station.
The program will be in place for three months starting next month.
Residents will receive the same information they did at the last domestic security alert, but with a few important changes.
The new program will also include a new notification system.
Officials said it’s a new program that isn’t a specific threat or specific threat agency, but it is a new way of notifying residents about an urgent and serious threat in their community.
Resident Tom Oliver said he took the survey and not to say how much he’s willing to pay for it, but he wants to be among the first to know if he needs to evacuate.
“I’m all ears, but I want to be a good neighbor,” said Oliver.
Kathleen O’Neill, the Boston Police Commissioner said the program is a chance to make the city a more secure one.
“We can be the safest city in the world and we are working to see that that happens,” said O’Neill.
