I’ve found an alternative to the keygen – I went to the product key finder
section and googled the serial number. I ended up finding it was a keygen for
autocad, which I installed, and then autocad did the encryption for me and
showed me a safe serial number 🙂

I just tried it a minute ago on my work computer and got a serial number that
ended with 5.

Funny, I just spent a long time reading about setting up a.NET Core
development environment on an Ubuntu 19.04 machine.

I got around by using the coreclr-apt package, which contains the private
key, and then mapping this private key to a machine identity, as described in

apt/blob/master/doc/README…](
apt/blob/master/doc/README.md#setting-up-private-keys).

Then I also had to setup the ssh agent so it can pick up my private key when I
connect.

The interesting thing is that, despite the message in the OP, which sounds
like it is a common problem, I can’t see where my ssh-agent is storing the
key that is used to identify my machine, so I can’t find this in the usual
places.

If anyone has more information on this, please let me know.

I do not know if you’re still around, but in Azure you can use the Visual
Studio or TFS “project templates” to create a new.NET core app with the
private key for the machine.

This will automatically configure both the SSH agent and the.NET core
environment.

The OP is on Ubuntu, so Azure does not apply, and I don’t use TFS, so that is
not useful information for me.

I thought I found the correct directory, but my results were inconclusive.

I found [1] in the git log for the “dotnet” package, which gave me some hope
