The series is one of the most popular PSP RPG’s out there, and that carries over to this game where the narrative is over the top! Storyline:

As your hometown of Minowa is besieged by an alien invasion from hell, you are rescued from your fate by a young woman who is a member of the black magic faction, the Elma. She revokes your own royal status as a king and crowns you the Prince of Minowa, and tasks you with gathering the scattered Royal Pendants around the world to restore the fallen kingdom. As a result of your adventure, you get a new job as a swordman, which leads to an even bigger adventure as you fight again an alien force from hell who’s intent is to conquer the world.

Gameplay:

Seek Hearts (Sei Hateshi no Shichinin to Isshūmen) literally translates to Seek Hearts (The Black Magician and the Great Demon of the World). It’s one of the most popular rpg’s on the PSP, and that carries over to this game, despite not being a “mainstream” or “standard” RPG. It is considered to have over the top elements and narrative for the genre, and that is well translated into the gameplay.

First up, the gameplay is divided up into three different parts. You begin as a swordman in training, and will continue to be a swordman as the story progresses. This is interesting to me because of the combination of the RPG and adventure elements. You don’t always play as a swordman, as I found I played as a piper and a magician many times during the game. As far as combat goes, you utilize three primary attacks, and there are special moves that can be activated with a standard or over the counter attack. For instance, I can use the yellow kick and make a counter attack that causes my foe to fall over. Seek Hearts is a 2006 third person adventure game published by Namco. The game requires a score of over 75% to obtain all achievements and missions. The game was then rereleased by Namco on September 27, 2007 with new features and the Retina Display iPhone homebrew game application.

The game is set in a dystopian future where humans are forced to battle relentlessly to the death for entertainment against Clockwork Robots. The player takes on the role of an agent from the so-called C# (City 2nd) group, who is sent to a school for agents where the weakest underclassmen (Class 4) are eliminated one by one in a bloody tournament, referred to as The Seeker’s Cup. If the player manages to survive, they gain access to the infamous “Ultimate Tower.”

Plot

The game takes place in a desolate tomorrow in which human life has been taken over by the fanatical Clockwork Robots. The Clockwork’s objectives are to exterminate all human beings and takeover the world. A new life is fighting out the vicious rules that have been established by the rebels: clockwork monsters are pitted against each other in the ultimate battle for survival. Each monster is savage, brutal, tactically astute, and unyielding, never hesitating to slaughter their opponents, all in order to prove superior to the other. The ultimate Evil rival who exists, the Ouroboros, is an ultimate Immortal, stronger and faster than any who came before, as invincible as the apocalypse itself.
