I am using puppy 5.6.2 on a P4 with 256mb of ram.
My system is listening to the soundcard, but nothing ever comes out of my speakers.
When I use Puppy to play a video on youtube etc. I usually get no sound out of the speakers. I have to use an external output.

Use the checkboxes at the bottom of the screen. By default the top 3 checkboxes are for:

Front Jack
Surround Jacks
MIXER

If you didn’t have the surround Jacks checked then you don’t have a surround sound system.
Note that the MIXER has no effect without the surround Jacks.

I know what is happening. I understand what is going on in the else statement. But I don’t know why in the second if statement ‘numString’ is not correct. Please help me. I’m very new to this.
