History
AutoCAD was initially released on September 28, 1989 as AutoLISP 1.0. It was developed by the AutoCAD Development Team at the time, based on Peter Vrana’s software from the 1980s called PolyLISP. Its first major release was in 1990, version 3. The version number of AutoCAD was kept at 2.5 until 1992, when AutoCAD 2.0 was released. This release included 3D modeling capabilities as well as being the first CAD application to support the dynamic Input Box, offering the ability to keep user input field as the active window. This same year, version 2.5a was released, adding the possibility to change the default graphical appearance of text and lines in the graphical display. AutoCAD 2.5b was released in 1993, including additional text editing options, an improved 3D interface, and the ability to create a surface from a 3D object, as well as other enhancements.
