The advantage of writing about novel 2nd person point of view over the 1st person?
I want to write a novel in the first person point of view. But is there any advantage to writing it in 2nd person point of view?
A:
I can think of a couple of ways:
1. Our narrator is unreliable.
A majority of first-person stories you will encounter are written from the point of view of someone doing something.
In a first-person story, it’s possible to be someone other than the narrator by either having the narration change when the narrator is out of sight, or the narration directly deriding or taunting the narrator, or being somebody else entirely. A far more common example of this, however, is third-person omniscient narration.
You also have the 1st-person telling the 2nd-person about itself. This lends itself to certain stylistic flourishes, but also can lead to seemingly contrived or awkward narration, if the author doesn’t know how to present that passage to the reader.
2. Our narrator is second-person.
