The author of the piece in the Oregonian is Laura Gunderson. I looked up her pedigree and discovered that she comes from a whole set of propaganda outlets. Several of the most prominent are the Hoover Institute (I assume this is linked in some way to the far right Hoover Institution), the Manhattan Institute (known for its laissez faire economics), and the American Enterprise Institute (another far right libertarian think tank).
I’d like to thank Kennjon for letting me know of this, and I encourage everyone to check out the article from Laura Gunderson and see what else you are getting from the Washington Post.
Continuing on the topic of various propaganda organizations, I’ve been noticing that whenever I read articles about alleged problems in the Defense Department and its budget, I am constantly being introduced to members of the Army Civilian Personnel Advisory Committee (APAC). As a member of APAC, I am always amazed at how often I meet the same people again and again. Each time I listen to their ‘job-analysis’ or ‘analysis’ of the current state of the Army, it is usually the same. I find it interesting that a group of people that supposedly advises the Defense Department on how to cut it’s budget, whose job is supposedly to say what the Army should and shouldn’t do, is always made up
