how to use the powershader in your node setup:
1. place the powershader node between your vray shaders and the render output.
2. change the powershader’s mode to either unlit or diffuse (a suitable material must be set in the powershader’s input slot).
3. in the powershader’s output slot, specify the material’s shader.
4. the powershader’s output slot’s output slot can either be a shader (most likely a diffuse shader), or an object’s material.
maya’s standard 2.0 nodes can sometimes cause a lot of problems with v-ray. for example, they might make the v-ray gpu use the wrong settings for the gi or lighting. the new vrayplugin node has been designed to make these problems disappear and to give users a much better experience with v-ray.
the v-ray optimized shader node gives v-ray shaders the same type of optimizations as the v-raymaterial node. this includes better memory management, a more efficient shading network and a ton of new shading features (e.g. support for ssao, drf, gi cache, precomputed transitions, etc).

vraymtl is a very versatile material that allows for better physically correct illumination (energy distribution) in the scene, faster rendering, and more convenient reflection and refraction parameters. this material can simulate a huge variety of surfaces from plastics to metals to glass and more with a handful of adjustments to the parameters.
the new vraypluginnodetex material is a very important addition to the vray plugin. vraypluginnodetex gives you the ability to create a large number of useful textures and with it, you can add a lot of sophistication to your shaders.
