sigh. Okay, so that device is the one that is compatible with the older sierra protocol, but has the CAL7 bit set. That could mean two things. One is that this protocol has a “new” driver already. The other is that the modem itself has built it’s own protocol with the CAL7 bit set, and now it’s stuck in that state.
This is all done by Globetrotter Hsupa Modem using an automatic procedure, allowing the program to load and install all missing drivers and DLLs, so you just have to reboot your machine and you’ll have a working driver on your PC.
Now Globetrotter Hsupa Modem can work with all Windows operating systems on your PC, without the need to install a new driver. This procedure is not available with the old /classic version, as it just installs one generic driver that works for all phones, but does not allow for different functions and features for different phones, making it inconvenient, when you don’t know what your phone is, instead of just having one to work with for all.
If you have a floppy drive attached to your PC, attach it to the drive that has the Windows setup CD image (or use a DVD) and then run the setup CD.
The first choice in the setup wizard will be “Select distribution type:”
Select “Device driver” (make sure the floppy drive is connected)
Make sure “Install the driver software required by my computer” is checked, and press Next
After the required drivers are loaded and before you can proceed, you will be asked if you want to “run a custom installation procedure”. Answer “Yes” and then hit Next..
The wizard should bring up “Select a language for your installation”. Select English (United States), and then hit Next.
At the next screen “Select a location for installation”, leave “My Computer” and press Next.
Installers recommend to use the default installation option, simply press “Install”.
After installation, Windows should reboot (yeah yeah, it’s tempting to skip this step. but don’t!). You can now disconnect the floppy and proceed to install the Globetrotter Hsupa Modem Software drivers.
The drivers will be installed to a directory called “Gzsmodem”, where “G” is your current drive letter and “ZS” is the Zip file name.
