it’s of no surprise that while the mortal kombat series remains a popular one, the developer, sega, are going through a financial crisis. the fighting mechanics are very similar to the original bloody roar game, but with a few tweaks, including new weapon mechanics. when the player is in beast form, their only weapons are the chaotompickensaw, which can only block, and the gigagrip, which can pull opponents close for a grappl. in addition, some of the moves have had their damage increased, and they can be changed into easier-to-use options at any time.
the game offers 2 player-versus-2 player mode, with a 2-on-1 match, and 2-on-2 stick based competition. there is also the inclusion of the ‘challenge’ mode that sees players must fight a series of ‘bosses’ with one-hit kills, with different time and item requirements. as if there weren’t enough modes of play, there is also a ‘tournament’ mode with a series of matches where players are ranked and are limited to certain moves, and outfits. when in the tournament, you can also select the kind of weapons you’ll be using, and even change your costumes. the game’s difficulty is quite high, with many characters being on par with that of master who is among the game’s strongest characters.
