Information on the prevalence and the distribution of the resistant isolates and their prevalence in soil and on environmental substrates is needed to better understand transmission to humans and evaluate the risk of spreading resistant isolates and to develop appropriate interventions. Moreover, regional and local data are needed to better understand the epidemiology of the resistance and to map hotspots of environmental azole resistance.
