Grafmkr is is a simple graph plotting program with no pretensions of mathematics! It does not do equations! Will allows up to three, different coloured, curves, each of up to 250 points, on the graph. Do not expect marvels of this program!
Means and weighted means are calculated automatically. The weighted mean method used is to sum all the values, then delete the highest and lowest and sum again. The process is repeated until all the points are deleted from the series. This method gives reduces the weight of the extreme values.

The program consists of three main components: the control program, the data acquisition program and the graphing program.

The control program initialises and tests the data acquisition program and graphs the data which is obtained. The control program then starts the data acquisition program, which runs for the period specified in the control program. This data acquisition program obtains the data which is used by the graphing program.
The graphing program uses an ASCII file which contains the data to be graphed, and the data which is to be graphed. The control program passes the data file to the graphing program. The graphing program extracts the information from the file, then draws the graph. The output of the graphing program consists of an ASCII file which can be edited by a programmer. It is possible to draw graphs of up to three series of data. These graphs can be plotted on the same graph or on separate graphs.

It is possible to update the ASCII file after each run of the data acquisition program. This allows the user to make changes in the graph or in the data points for each series.

The data acquisition program

This program is run on top of the data acquisition program. It graphs the data in the X,Y coordinate plane, using the ASCII file of data which the data acquisition program has obtained.

At the start of each run of the data acquisition program, the data acquisition program will first find the ASCII file containing the data, and then extract the data from it. It will then examine the data. If the data does not contain values in the range -1 to 1 then it returns the value 0. It is quite easy to create a graph in WPF. In this program Grafmkr is the helper. It does a lot of the work.
Just start Grafmkr.
You can create from one to three coloured curves with points on them.
Each curve must have at least 250 points.

If you need to make changes to any of the parameters, there is a button on the top right.

You must first create a DataSet, then save it as a SavedDataSet.

Please note that a DataSet is not a graph. It contains the data to be plotted. It is not possible to display more than one DataSet in a WPF application.

If you do not save your DataSet, changes will not be saved.
To save your DataSet, use the button on the top right.

To create a SavedDataSet, use the button in the top left of the screen.

There are two button in the top left.

The first button (blue) shows the first DataSet that has been created.
You can use this to start the Plot function.
If you want to do this, you can just press the button, or you can right click on the button and select the function, then press the button.
The button will deselect itself, the process is complete.

The second button (black) is to get help.
Press it and you will get the help function (see below).

Note that the same function can be run from the main screen, using the help function.

The help function shows a text description of the main parameters.

There are also two buttons in the top right.
The first button (blue) deselects the button in the top left and the plot is displayed.
You can still use the plot by pressing the button in the top right.
The second button (black) closes the help text.

If you want to save your changes, the plot is saved as a SavedDataSet.
You can use the button in the top left to get the SavedDataSet.

The SavedDataSet has a unique name and is saved in your MyDocuments folder.
It does not have to be a.sav file. It can be anything.

To add a point, select the point to be added.

Press the button (green).

You can also delete points by selecting them and pressing the button (red).

Points that are close to the y=axis will be distorted in the plot.
You can select a point and press the button (green) to select the segment that surrounds the point.

Then you can change the angle with the button (blue).
You can also stretch the selected segment with the button (green).
