In my MSI installer, I’ve added a custom action DONE and DONE EXECUTE, which are setup as BOOLs. I’ve added the following piece of code to check the version and install.

What I want to achieve is to have the DONE EXECUTE code executed if my MSI version is greater than or equal to the installed version.
The code works if I manually install a new MSI and then uninstall, but my MSI fails if I try to uninstall after a fresh install. I’ve tried to add the following and different code to the ENDIF statements:
@IF @INSTALLLOCATION = “Uninstall” AND NOT @VersionToInstall = “1.1.0.0”
@IF @INSTALLLOCATION = “Uninstall” AND NOT @VersionToInstall >= @Installed
@IF @INSTALLLOCATION = “Uninstall” AND NOT @VersionToInstall = “1.1.0.0” AND NOT @Installed

Any ideas on what I’m doing wrong? I’ve also tried to wrap the code with a IF DONE EXECUTE IF statement.

1) How to check if the version installed is at least the one expected
2) How to check if the version to be installed is not lower than the version installed
Now this is the right approach:
1) Update the condition to test the VersionToInstall variable as follows:
IF @VersionToInstall >= @Installed AND @VersionToInstall >= @InstallVersion

2) You can test if the version to be installed is lower than the installed version.
IF @VersionToInstall = @InstallVersion

For 1) the condition is true even if the version installed is lower than the one to be installed, because the first part of the condition is True

When I entered the settings for the target folder and selected the “create new folder” option, it just disappeared after I hit “ok” and no files were created. In the help forum it says to enter a new folder name, not select “create new folder”, and that didn’t work. I’m guessing that is the problem, but I don’t have any idea of what I should be entering as the new folder name. I’m sure that’s the problem, but the forum didn’t say that.Q:
