Then change my local copy to the latest version of the code, including any merge commits:

Is there a way to commit the files back to the repository without commiting the merge commit? I’d like to see a diff of what would be in my master branch to what was in the new_feature branch. It’d be fine if I had to do the commit after the merge in order to get the diff.

If you want to generate a diff, you will have to commit the merge.
You could use git log –stat –oneline to see what the diff is, and then use git diff to generate the actual diff.

This is a plugin that allows you to record your keystrokes in Audacity.
It’s pretty much a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) that you need to set up in order to use it.
What’s more, it’s not as straightforward as it sounds. You need to have a Mac and install the mentioned app first, then open up Audacity and access the “File” menu, then select “Export settings”, “Create xLS Configuration File” and check “Save keyboard macro” for the “General” tab.
The settings will then be saved as a file in the “User-defined” folder and you’ll get an xLS folder right next to the one created. Open it and you’ll get the “Macro name” and “Macro description” information, along with a bunch of other useful details about the keyboard and mouse macros that you recorded.
In order to use this plugin, you need to open the “Options” menu from Audacity’s “Manage” menu and go under the “Preferences” tab. Then choose “Macro” from the list on the left, click on the button to change the macro name or description and press the “Save” button.
Once you get it up and running, you’ll find the keyboard macros in the “Macro” list and you’ll be able to assign a shortcut key to the macro you wish to use from the “Assign Shortcuts” list.

Installing the plug-in might seem a bit difficult at first, since you have to move the DLL file into Audacity's "Plugin" folder, launch Audacity, access the "Effect" menu, select the "Add / Remove Plugins" option from the list, then select LS Filter from the list and hit the "Enable" button. However, it sounds way more complicated than it actually is.
Once you get it up and running, you'll notice that the main window comes with three slider bars and multiple buttons.
