Love is A Magic Film

Love is a magic film, a twist on the format of the basic telenovela, was aired on Star Plus in early 2010.

Plot

The story revolves around the lives of a family living in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. Manjeet Singh (Kushboo) and her husband, Ashok (Vikram) are a middle class couple and have a daughter, Ananya.
Ashok is a lawyer and Manjeet is a housewife. Ashok’s paternal uncle has left him in charge of his late wife’s family, who live in England. Later, Manjeet and Ashok settle in England also. Ashok’s brother, Sanju, is an alcoholic who lives with his wife, Kashmira (Sangeeta Bijlani).

A peaceful life is suddenly disrupted when Sanju’s best friend, Sameer (Rahul Jain), becomes a part of the family. Sanju begins to abuse Sameer and often forces him to get into fights. The family can’t tolerate this anymore and Soheba (Riya Sen) is forced to leave the house when she begins to suspect what her husband is doing to her brother’s friend.
Sameer’s abuse of Sanju causes the couple to reunite again. When the family return to India, Sameer comes back to Ashok’s house to visit his cousins. Sanju and Kashmira’s brother, Preetam (Vikram Mishra) and his wife, Chhoti (Divya Dutta) welcome Sameer to the house. However, their sister-in-law Soonha is upset by Preetam’s conduct towards her brother. In the meantime, Manjeet and Ashok’s own daughter, Ananya, begins to have feelings for Sameer.

What’s the secret behind all this? Is this a tale of a happy ending? Or will the same struggles on which the story started reappear in all their ugly glory?

Production

The show was created by the Indian TV producer, Rajesh Sethi, who also directed the series. It was shot in India, England, Spain, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan. It received the highest rating for TV Week.
