Spanish
Spain is not only the best wine-producing country in the world, but it turns out that Spain is also the country with the largest vineyards. Sicilian white wines are one of my favorites, especially the crisp and light Grillo, which is much more affordable than the classic Pinot Grigio. Ah Georgia, the most underrated wine target in all the world. Wine is as important and ubiquitous to Georgians as it is to the French. But most of it stays at home rather than being exported, so the world hasn’t fully appreciated it yet.
What makes Georgian wine unique is that most of its 500 grape varieties are highly authentic. Although some of these wines can be found in other countries, it is very rare to see Georgian wine made with imported wines. This means that most of the wines you try will be different from anything you’ve tasted before.
Switzerland
It’s surprising that most people don’t think of Switzerland as a wine-producing country. After all, the country shares a border (hence, climate) with France and Italy. There are many wine regions in Switzerland, but Lavaux is the most famous. The vineyards of the canton are almost in all likelihood beautiful, with the contrasting ranges of hills along with the cool blue lakes and high mountains. This beauty, complemented by their nearly 900 year history, has earned the status of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, originating from the Lavaux vineyards.

German? For wine? No, we are not confused with other countries. Germany may be more famous for its beer than for its wine, but there are many vineyards throughout the country. Many of the country’s vineyards are in the Moselle Valley along the River Rhine, which shares a border with France. The Greeks have enjoyed wine since ancient times and are indeed the ones who spread it throughout most of Europe.
