Ugali

Ugali is a Kenyan staple food made from corn flour, which is cooked in boiling water until it turns into a dense flour dough. Depending on how this dish is served, it can be in the form of porridge or something else. Many Kenyans eat ugali by hand and eat it with cooked vegetables, stewed soup or other side dishes

Irio

Irio is a famous dish that used to be a staple food for the Kikuyu tribe. Irio itself is made from two basic ingredients, namely corn, potatoes and peas, and has many other variations. The way to make it is also quite easy, just by boiling all the ingredients and then pounding it into a thick paste which is usually served with grilled meat or Nyama Choma.

Nyama Choma

In Kenyan language, Nyama Choma means grilled meat and is one of the favorite foods in Kenya, usually this dish is eaten with Irio, kachumbari salad and eaten with hands. Nyama Choma usually uses mutton and beef, but you can also use other meats such as chicken (kuku choma) and fish (samaki choma). Githeri

At a glance, this preparation might remind you of sambal matah, but it’s not. This dish is a typical salad from Kenya that uses ingredients such as tomatoes, onions, chilies, cabbage and various other vegetables. This salad preparation is also eaten as a complementary menu to the main dish.

Mandazi

For sweet food, there is also this one menu. This preparation is a typical Kenyan donut which has a square shape and is a pillow bread. The taste can be said to be not too sweet because it uses coconut milk in it. Apart from powdered sugar, this typical Kenyan donut is also usually eaten with various sauces and fruit.

Nyamachoma

Typical Kenyan preparations are also inseparable from the meat menu like other countries. The meaning of the name of this food also means grilled meat.
