Visiting Heaven that Stores the World’s Most Expensive Cannabis in the Himalayan Interior
The village of Malana in the mountains of India is famous for producing the best and most expensive cannabis variants. But the cultivation of those divine plants slowly started to fade away.
Reporting from https://elevationsdispensary.com/ hidden at the foot of the Himalayas, there is a mysterious village shrouded in myth. However, even though the location is quite remote, the place invites extraordinary curiosity. In addition to offering beautiful views of the Parvati river, a village called Malana holds the title of cannabis heaven because its people process the sap of the cannabis plant into hasis or chara — a solid cannabis product.
Better known as Malana Cream, this cannabis variety is one of the best and most expensive in the world because of its clay-like density, high levels of THC (the main psychoactive substance in cannabis plants) and distinctive aroma. The sap is removed by rubbing the cannabis leaves manually.
Thousands of visitors trudge across the sheer cliffs of Kullu district in the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh just to experience the local creation firsthand.
Photojournalist Hari Katragadda cannot deny that he is also interested in Malana Cream, who made the village go global. However, he was more intrigued by rumors that life there was very closed and untouched by the outside world.
A year later, he invited a writer to visit the village to get to know the culture and life of the local people.
Katragadda visited the remote village regularly from 2009-2015. In 12 trips, he has earned the trust of the people and is able to attend traditional events, such as weddings.
“I invite them to get acquainted as friends, not as potential buyers. Maybe because of that they accepted me more quickly, “he explained.
