You should not convert from Ionic 2 to Ionic 3. Ionic 2 is built on top of Ionic 1, which is a very stable and well-supported framework. There are some parts, like select2, that are not as well maintained as Ionic’s 1 and might not work as expected, but I would say that Ionic 1 is generally better than Ionic 2 in that regard.
In terms of code, I would say it is safe to stay with Ionic 2. There are enough changes from 1 to 3 that you’d be better off learning 2 and building for 3 when you want to be able to take advantage of features that are only available in 3.2+. With the exception of select2, I’d say that 3 is not doing much that Ionic 2 didn’t do before.
