I’m sure many of you have noticed this, but there is a mass exodus from the 20-25 year old bracket of internet gamers. The reason for this is no secret — outside of secret board games, Internet PvP has gotten dull and predictable, and overused. However for some reason, this isn’t hitting the 20-30 bracket hard nearly as bad as it should. Instead I’m seeing a large influx of 25 year olds as I’m seeing the beginning of an all-out invasion by the 30-34 year old bracket. Maybe it’s because MMO’s are still holding out in the 30+ bracket? Maybe it’s because people want to enter their 30’s with a value of $$$ they can really sink their teeth into? Maybe it’s because since the release of WoW, MMORPG’s have become extremely competitive and you have a taste for something that can give you a challenge? Whatever it may be, the renaissance of role-playing games is very evident in the 25-34 year old brackets as we all eagerly eye the 20-25 bracket.
One of the most exciting times of the night is to see what new person is having fun in PvP. It’s more common than you may think. The infamous KH comes in and manages to start a clan with four people. The people that are in the clan aren’t interested in PvP. Then about a week later, they pull a stunt that is a constant reminder of how good they are. A few weeks go by, the clan starts a new group, this time people who are very interested in PvP. One of these people was the daily PvPer that suddenly became the leader of the clan. We’ll call him/her James for the obvious reasons. James’ high rank has finally manifested itself into some sucessfully attempting PvP.
Everybody gets excited, they whisper, “I am going to become a leader too,” and then a few other people get whisper. It slowly builds up until around 15 people is whispering about joining and eventually you are doing this all night. The Clan War (known as upcomingtaekwunewon or exploding cake) that is usually released shortly before midnight starts. A lot of clans are formed because everybody wants to be the first one on the battlefield. Some of the really big clans are already on the battlefield. It’s getting closer and closer.
