Isolates were identified using the automated VITEK2 system (GNI and bioMérieux) and conventional methods (API 20C AUX system, ATB 32C and conventional identification method for the species). Direct (PAP) and defibrinated (DF) sheep blood were used for blood cultures. The accuracy for each method and each blood type was calculated. The best performances for MOR and GTR were obtained with DF blood for both hospitals. Identification using conventional methods resulted in only 56.6% (one-quarter) of correct species identification, even after retraining. In both hospitals, BFP demonstrated good performances for C. albicans, with 88.3% and 100% of correct species identification, in the case of DF blood.
