i used to have an xg and i used it a lot for live performance. unfortunately i had a bad accident and damaged both of my knees (one of them has to be replaced). that gave me the opportunity to sell my yamaha. i was looking to purchase a digital piano and i am just very happy with my choice for the yamaha p35 which i bought for a little more than 4,000 euros. i already have the softsynth and the p35 and i’m making great music with it. it can synthesize almost any sound. it has 128 different, very good and playable sounds. i can even use it as a softsynth. it’s great to be able to use the softsynth with my good old xg. i also have a yamahasound card which i bought for my p35. i would not have bought it without the softsynth and the p35. i just have to make sure that my soundcard which i use for midi is compatible with my yamaha card, because it’s a pretty expensive card for a soundcard. i believe that i will never have to buy another soundcard. i am very happy with the yamaha soundcard and the p35. i recommend it for everybody to buy this yamaha if they’re into music.
after a long time using the xg, i recently decided to take the plunge and get a yamaha synth and the xg became my current softsynth. the xg is one of the most versatile and best sounding softsynths i have ever used. it was a great investment for me. i ended up buying a new yamaha p35 after i bought my xg and i’m loving it. i’m using it as a softsynth but it can do a lot more. -it has a control panel that has a lot of knobs that adjust the sound. -it has a number of sounds. -it is very versatile and can do a lot of things. -it is compatible with the vsti that was made for the xg. -it can be used as a softsynth. -the sound quality is very good. -it sounds good with all types of instruments. -you can use it in many situations. -it sounds very natural. -it is very good for use in a band or as a solo artist. -it sounds very good with drum machines. -it is good for use with the internal speakers. -it is very easy to use.
you can use the provided dvd with the included dx7 driver & keyboard application disk to access the database. you can insert the dvd and the accompanying disk into your computer’s optical drive to play and to search for sounds. i tested the dvd on windows xp, and it worked fine, so you can do the same. you can also use the included soundblaster midi cable to connect the dx7 to your soundblaster compatible sound card. the dx7 driver also includes drivers for yamaha’s soundblaster and soundblaster pro sound cards. yamaha’s soundblaster compatible sound cards are, in my opinion, better than their own soundblaster pro sound cards because of their extensive feature set.
1. download the plug-in vst 2. download savihost32 3. download loopmidi 4. extract loopmidi 5. install loopmidi (i just use the default settings) 6. extract the plugin to a folder where you can easily find it 7. extract savihost32 to the same folder as where you extracted the plug-in 8. rename savihost32 to the name of the plug-in dll (in this case syxg50) warning!!! do not remove the.exe from savihost and do not include the.dll (so the file you end up with is called syxg50.exe) 9. create a shortcut to syxg50.exe on your desktop (for easy access) 10. start loopmidi and at new port-name at the bottom choose a name for the port (i use yamaha s-yxg50 as the name but it can be anything) and then click the + at the bottom-right to create the port. 11. start the shortcut from your desktop that you made for the plug-in and in the menu-bar at the top select devices and then midi.. and next to input port select the name of the port that you created in step 10 and click ok 12. now your virtual yamaha s-yxg50 is properly set up to receive midi from your favourite midi application, to find out how to send midi from your application to an external device i will have to refer you to the documentation of said application.
