to make matters worse, the environments are neither exciting nor appealing; the only saving grace is the band of autobots who help defend the humans who are in danger. the autobots themselves are awkward and uninteresting, and they’re such a minor part of the plot you probably won’t care if they don’t make it into the final cut.
i may be pessimistic, but if the gameplay wasn’t enough to make this a passable release, the main reason to play it is to see bay and his army attempt to pour their failures onto the ps3 as well as the wii. in theory, any game that can look this bad on the wii is going to look great on the ps3.. but i’m not holding my breath.

first of all, this is not the first movie for you to play. get back to me when you have even the smallest concept of modern moviemaking. secondly, stop having scenes which put you in grave danger, and inject some emotion into the story. why are you even here?
hey, transformers.. so, okay, so i haven’t seen the new transformers movie.but.didn’t dark of the moon kind of suck? not as much as the first one, which was a complete disaster of a movie, but still a one-way train wreck. like, just look at the trailer: charlie sheen going “whee-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e!” is not cool. no way, and i mean it. the transformation scenes are a travesty. it’s not that i don’t get the concept of transforming into a robot like a big spider and vice versa (as they seem to show in the trailer), it’s just that it looked cheap and lame. the t-rex-bots looked just as bad as they did in the first one. and the autobots and decepticons looked like.well, what they did in the first movie. here’s hoping that the sequel does something interesting with the concept. right now, you really don’t get any feel for the autobots, they just all look so.generic. and prowl is the only one who’s designed well. and i liked the part about the humans already getting jacked by the end of dark of the moon, so, let’s not go there, shall we? i doubt, so, anyway, i finally got around to playing the game. and i’m having a hell of a time with it. i love playing games like this, so, i’m not knocking the game itself. it’s actually pretty fun. here are my major gripes with it.
despite its short history, the game is far from perfect, with a whopping number of glitches, crashes, and other issues. for the most part, anything you don’t typically think of running on an iphone will have some sort of problem with it. keyboard input issues, for example, are commonplace. double and triple taps don’t always work, as does a trick in which you double tap to make the autobots fly and then tap to make them fight. you can move the camera in all sorts of weird ways, with no discernible controls. the story’s interactivity is almost non-existent, with only one cutscene being playable.
the game’s saving mechanism also happens to be a bit of a mess. should you want to save, there’s no menu option to do so. instead, you’re simply met with the game’s own logo, and given no option to create a save file, let alone even view it. even worse, the game doesn’t allow you to save if there’s an issue, meaning that if you ever crash or run into one of the game’s many bugs, you’ll have to start a new game to continue. it’s rather an ugly system.
on the technical side of things, the game has its share of problems. some of the models in the game look great but are corrupted at various times during gameplay. this is especially true of the models for several of the transformers we use to transform into. add to this a terribly underwhelming soundtrack, and the fact that the game is a watered-down twisted metal, and this simply falls apart as a functioning video game.
those looking for a great ios transformers experience will be better off with the 2d action/platformer transformers: war for cybertron, or even transformers: rise of the dark spark. the mobile port of war for cybertron, as of this writing, has a better metacritic score than dark of the moon. [67] also, rise of the dark spark has more content than dark of the moon, even if it’s not the same quality as the full blown pc game. for this game, it’s best to expect only the bare minimum, with the only possible exception being the cutscene plays on select cars.
