i love books that really help by breaking it down to a simple and simpler level, such as your book. i’ve used it to help me learn anatomical drawing because i’m missing the anatomical know-how and it’s quite helpful. for example, anatomy out loud: volume 1 , david lechner’s book is the only thing i own for drawing human figures and its been invaluable.
so far it has been useful. i have a book but i have been using the dvd anyway. it is helpful though at first. maybe this book would be helpful. i am going to have to check out the dvd too because it has been helpful.
i am working on the drawing of human figure at present and this book helped me a lot in the understanding of human figure. this book is a good combination of clarity, simplicity and scientific approach. also this book only deals with the human figure (bodies).
this book explains the human figure with an easy to understand “how to” approach. the book is organized in a logical, progressive order. well worth the time for any beginner artist. i often re-read certain chapters to make sure i’m grasping the material. sometimes i even refer to the complementary art chapter of this book to make sure i fully understand what the author is trying to teach.
this is a fantastic book on human anatomy. very well organized and easy to follow. i find myself often referring to this book when i am working on a new drawing. it’s a well written book that is full of great, practical tips.
very well written and easy to understand text. my only suggestion would be make the topics more organised. many of the chapters could be more compact. this would allow for more comprehensive information and improve the overall coherence of the book.

the figure is an extremely powerful subject to learn as it is universal. these books contain a thorough explanation of the human anatomy in easy to understand terms. in these volumes you will learn to make correct musculature determinations and create an entire body scheme. these books all contain many different exercises to ensure that the student is engaged in an interactive program with the teacher. so whether you are a high school, college student or asuperstar teacher you will find the perfect series for a lifelong pursuit of the figure.
michael hampton’s “figure drawing: design and invention” is undoubtedly a work on solid figuration. all of the first book’s contents address this subject while chapter three is dedicated to the human body. however, it doesn’t present a complete approach to human anatomy, but rather concentrates on specific areas of the body such as hands, feet, legs, and torso. the author offers plenty of illustrations to demonstrate his points. still, you may find the book too simplistic as it does not give any in-depth information on muscle structures, skeleton, posture, or proportions.
