i have a son, who is 18, he has been in and out of rehab, and other place, for years. the state’s parole board is trying to get him back on the streets, where he has been doing drugs, has been drinking, and has been to jail numerous times. they want to put him in prison.

to enable the approach, in the next set of field evaluations, field samples (medium-high micronaire cotton lint) will be measured in the field and will be analyzed and compared to the hand- ginned lint from the same bolls. after discussion with cotton industry representatives, it was decided that this initial set of evaluations would focus on the micronaire end state target and would not include the potential for more traditional in situ nir analysis approaches (e.g., refractive index and color). this initial field and laboratory evaluation of cotton micronaire end-state performance was successfully completed with the u.s.m.a. cotton advisory board. the field evaluation data have been submitted to the u. cotton and gossypium research center for review and evaluation.

field calibration: the farm-laboratory field micronaire calibration approach, as described, was optimized and verified using 0.15-micron-micronaire cotton bolls (turbidity or fiber clumping and/or fiber defects) that were hand- ginned to reduce the micronaire of the sample.

the hand-gined lint samples were measured on the portable nir unit before being combined. in addition to the laboratory portion of the micronaire calibration, the field samples were analyzed using the nir unit to confirm the field calibration. the comparison of the calibrated and uncalibrated (actual calibrations are not implemented) nir calibration of the field samples showed that the micronaire comparisons of the samples analyzed in the field (in the field) were very good, with 80% of the initial hvi calibrated and uncalibrated samples correctly identified by the end state target (low, medium, and high). field calibration samples with a high percentage of correctly identified samples can be important for acceptance by farmers, especially when several farmers are involved in field testing. for example, when the field samples were compared to the hand- ginned field samples, the correct identification of more than 65% of the sample groups showed that this method is reliable and may be reliable for use in the fields.

in reality, this is a cheap game. its a sequel to a game that was created when i was only a college student, and not charging any money for it. its really disappointing to me that i cannot get back a tenth of the money that people have spent since i first offered the game for free. i wanted to at least give a 10% discount, but it seems this isnt enough. i do hope to offer some kind of compensation for people who bought the game prior to 2014.

in year 2, field measurements were taken in a different location: stoneville, mississippi (ms extension service field). to permit nir analysis of cotton bolls in the field, a sampling system was developed to allow large numbers of samples to be taken. a tractor was modified by adding a platform that could hold a sampling system. the sampling system, consisting of a sampling unit, wagon (mobile platform), and sampling wand, was mounted onto the platform in order to carry a sampling unit. the sampling wand was placed in the cotton boll of interest, and a scan was performed. the wand was then removed from the cotton boll, the unit moved to the next boll of interest, and a scan performed. a total of 409 samples were collected over 2 years of field evaluations using the two sampling methods. all nir analyses were performed on lint samples, and reference micronaire values were obtained for individual lots. all nir measurements were made by fiber type (lint, seed) and lot. a total of 409 field samples were collected and nir analyses were performed. the portable nir sampling system was shown to be a feasible method for measuring the micronaire of cotton bolls directly on the boll in the field, without returning the cotton boll to a laboratory for micronaire measurement. the sampling system was shown to be a viable sampling method.
