What is good: If the objective of a director was to entertain a large audience, this film deserves the success it got. Right from the song right through to the climax, the story was made to the point which gave room for a lot of improvisation, but that did not mean that the director sacrificed the screenplay. For a film where the hero and heroine are stuck with each other for the entirety, the screenplay takes the best of the pairing and builds a complete picture around it. The entire family is shown in different shades, while the father is a smartass but God fearing and mother is an extremely religious woman. The women characters are in no way exploited. The movie was a huge hit and won a National award at the end of the year.
What is bad: While Samantha has improved her acting, her accent is still a nightmare. Whenever her voice is dubbed in Tamil, it sounds very puppy like. Besides that, the film requires a more than comfortable set up. Just like other films with tight production schedules, the movie is really planned as a one time hit, and it leaves very little room for expansion. Besides that, the entire effort is really, really meandering as the film is targeted at a mass audience. The song that introduces Samanthas character is a very flashy song, where she sings just to wring out emotions and impact a song.
