      RPGs can be very well-written books. Sometimes, their media face can be lacking when translated to interactive entertainment. You’re not reading a story here. You’re playing one. And just like the graphics you see on a computer screen, sometimes you can get carried away and feel like you’re reading the same lines you’ve seen a million times.

      Tales of the Elden Ring definitely lets you know exactly what you’re getting into from the get go. The setting is engrossing enough to get you into the next chapter. However, there are some battles that didn’t really come to any conclusion. It’s not a bad thing though as I felt like there was still a sense of achievement to be had.

      The random number generator is also a common fixture of a good RPG. But, when you’re forced to play as the same character for a long period of time, you inevitably feel like the number of great battles you’re having are really underwhelming. Sometimes, you will be playing through dungeons in your sleep. You’ll even enter battle while standing around wondering if you should just continue playing to the next chapter. Though, it was really enjoyable to be in such a state and experience a new world.

      The choice of combat is really up to you. It can be a sight to behold as some Elden Lords create their own unique combos. You may find this a bit restricting, but when you’re dying and then finding yourself all healed up, it is exciting. The upgrade system, where you can freely combine your weapons and armor, means you can decide how you want to build your character, and what it is you’re after. It doesn’t have to be a traditional “swords, armor, boots, wings”. And the reason why there is so much emphasis on this issue is because it makes you take your character seriously. When the choice is yours to make, you’ll be satisfied with how everything fits together.

      The character creation is actually very nice. I liked being able to make my own armor and weapons. It could be a bit daunting at first, but you slowly get the hang of it. When you go online to join a multiplayer session, you will be required to create a custom character. If you choose to do this
